There're some thermal issues.

So some modification on the casing cover have to be done.

The total energy consumption was measured quick and dirty with current pliers:

0.15 A

33 Watt

Very nice! How did you connect the extra NIC to the mobo?

I calculated that it would save me about $10 a month in electricity if implemented. So it would pay for itself in about 3 years.

In the mean time I switched my router from a Dell Optiplex desktop with P4 Celeron 2.2 GHz to an HP Atom 1.6GHz machine which only consumes 34Wt. I had to invest about $15 in an Intel gigabit PCIe NIC to have the 2nd interface.
