I don't know what was changed.

But upgraded 6 routers that I manage 2 days ago and works fine so far.

To get 64-bit kernel with 3.8.2 you have to:

Upgrade 3.8.1 --> 3.8.2
restart

uninstall 64-bit kernel
install 64-bit kernel (now in right slot!)

change kernel choice in boot menu slot, save.
restart

reperez thanks for your post. I was wondering where the 64-bit kernel did go. This saved my a lot of time.

What's the advantage of the 64 bit kernel, when the entire ZS takes no more than 256MB of RAM at runtime?

In the basic configuration, yes!
If you want to use Transparent Proxy with Web Antivirus and/or NTOP and/or SQUID, etc. , then you need much more RAM! And the more, the better!

So you contend that squid et al take more than 4GB per process each? I would question that assertion.
