After having a look at the wifi-manager script I came to understand that only 1 Station mode SSID is possible at a time. I deleted the existing WPA-PSK SSID and was able to create a new WPA-EAP SSID that was able to connect to my office 802.11ac AP.
Kudos to Fulvio et al. for this great router app.
