MemberHello,
I have a problem, on Zeroshell the dhcp server is active and i’s broadcasting to the device, but there is no portal. It requires to enter manually the zeroshell IP address in order to get the authentication page. then after putting the credential a re-directional to zeroshell logon. What could be the reason and the solution?
Thanks for the help. I using ver. 3.8thank you
Pierre

Participanti’m not sure to understand your problem… can you explain in other words?
for the few words i understand in your sentence, i would say your dhcp doesn’t give a default gateway (portal??), so your devices get an IP but don’t know who to talk to

MemberHi,
I sorry concerning the sentence,
the dhcp on zeroshell is active and broadcasting on eth02.
the client computer get an IP address from the dhcp.
when I launch chrome or mozila there no redirection via the portal or connection to the portal.August 10, 2017 at 1:04 pm #54533Montikore
Participantdoes the client computer get a default gateway? if no, you have to configure your dhcp to make it give clients a default gateway

Participantwhat is the relation with your browser and zeroshell???
i think you don’t understand what zeroshell is…August 18, 2017 at 5:23 pm #54538atiggeek
MemberYou’re right, I think I do not understand zeroshell. I’m looking for a wireless lan controller, so I came across a tutorial on youtube, he said we can use it for a hotspot. So here is my approach towards zeroshell. My question: could I use zeroshell as hotspot?

ParticipantSure you can, but zeroshell is much more than simply a wireless router.
In this case, you have to install it on a computer with at least 1 ethernet interface (for your local network) and 1 wifi card. You may have difficulties to install the driver of wifi card, so using a wifi router (on another ethernet interface) would be quite easier (and cheap).September 1, 2017 at 5:16 pm #54540atiggeek

ParticipantI guess that the OP said that he does not have DNS. From what I understand of the OP he has to enter the IP address of the destination server, to be able to access it. This tells me that DNS is not working. I never had this issue but I am still on 3.5 reluctant to upgrade after reading of many such problems with the more recent versions.

ParticipantThanks DrmCa
Gotcha. I seem to be stalled where I am in my setup. I’m afraid to go live because I feel like there will be a lot of guidance needed to use the CP from an apple device (which defeats the purpose of the CP). Everything in my setup works flawlessly except the CP when accessing from iphones and ipads. When I connect an andriod device that device is given an ip address and immediately redirected to the CP login page. When accessed from and apple device i get an ip address and it just sits there. If you open safari and try to go to google for, example you do get redirected to the CP login page but I really need the page to load automatically to reduce time spent assisting guests. Seems as though this is a very common issue but there are no resolutions that I can find anywhere in the forum. DNS is resolving the internal 10.1.0.1 ip to my internal captive.***.com address.
If anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears!
