Hi all, I need help with dns configuration.

    I start with some questions.

    • Do I have to create a DNS reverse zone for each domain?
    • I noticed we can create PTR record in the forward zone. Is that correct or should it not be allowed?

I found the right steps to follow, but please answer my questions :-).

    Here’s the procedure:

    Example:
I have the zone mycompany.lan. and a host named test005.mycompany.lan with ip 192.168.2.45.

Press the button CREATE to add a new zone.

    Select “Reverse” instead of “Forward”.

    Domain Name
    2.168.192.in-addr.arpa

    Masterserver
    zeroshell.mycompany.lan.

    Email contact
    hostmaster.zeroshell.mycompany.lan.

    Then press “Submit”.

Now add a new record for our host:

    Button: Entry Command / New
(Note that record type is already selected to PTR)

    Hostname: test005.

    Entry Name: 45

    Press “Save” button.
