So we have ZS all setup and QOS is working great, things are behaving.

I would like for RDNS to work – so is there a way to simply point ZS at my existing DNS servers which host my existing RDNS zones?

It seems to only try to use the localhost for RDNS and that always fails because the ZS box is not authoritative for my domain.

Is this a simple change? Do I SSH to it and edit a config file or something?

Sorry – I’m a bit new to ZS and ‘nix in general.

You can tell Zeroshell DNS to forward requests to another DNS server or servers for any domain, and I believe this includes anything in in-addr.arpa, which is the reverse DNS domain for IPv4 addresses.

If you want to forward requests to, say, 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa ( to another set of DNS servers, click the Forwarders link in ZS DNS and add 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa to the list specifying the DNS server(s) that host the rDNS zone. You can do this for more than one rDNS zone.
