Install Snort in NIDS mode

    Hello
    I have made several Vlan network and communicate with each other InterVLAN Routing
    Now I want I install SNORT in NIDS mode for Servers
    Now a few questions:
    1 installation on Windows or Linux and why the offer (the network is mainly Microsoft)
    2. Gateway servers must be sure the server or a member of the Vlan be enough?
    3. What is the best SyslogServer for this purpose? (I have installed Kiwi slides I got to do this)
