Thanks same pplias, but i dont understand.
Should i change the default ip @ first before clicking on create vlan? or it doesn’t matter , so i skip adressing eth00, i create a vlan on eth00, i set 10.0.0.1 as vlan1 adress (is it good so far?)
After creating vlan 1, how should i insert the hosts i want to belong to this vlan???
Sorry for disturbing too much, and thks for all.
thanks same PPALIAS.
i’ve found the start point of vlan creation, and i’m gonna explain you what i want to do.
in my network, i want to create a vlan that will contain my asterisk server along with all the ip phone. i will use the dhcp server of ZS for the ip phones, so it would be great to set up a vlan with it too. My network adress is 192.168.0.0, and i want a vlan 10.0.0.0 in my computers network.
This is what i started doing, but for lack of informations about ZS vlan settings, i’m stuck:
create vlan —>description= ip phone vlan
>( ethoo is still 192.168.0.75)
i don’t know what to do to complete my vlan.
I’m lost, i need a link, explanayions, documentation, everything to help me.
Thank you for all ppalias. Expecting your reply.
Thanks same PPALIAS. I will do so as soon as i get to work. I’ll let u know. Thanks.
ok, thanks, i check right away ddns-update style.
ok. I’m used with doing that with the microsoft product such as Windows server 2003, where i set up both a dns ans dhcp server. Within this dynamic ip adressing (ip @ keep changing), my dns server still resolve the computers names even though the ip @ change. That’s due to the automatical update of the dns server about ip @ changes so that it could relate the hostname to its current ip @. As i want to use a dhcp server in my network along with ZS, it ‘s not easy to enter manually something like hostname ( dhcp-home x) and relate it to its ip @!!!!. That could fit in a static ip adressing.
Hope you understand what i mean. As usual, thanks a lot for your time. I appreciate. Expecting your reply.
Yes, thanks , it’s clear now. So i think ZS cannot be useful in my case , coz i get a 30 min dhcp leases on my network, and i wanted ZS dns server to resolve their name according to the ip @ changes. Thank you anyway PPALIAS.
Thanks, it’s getting clearer to me. But in your screenshot of dns section, those :
dhcp-home x A @ip are recorded manually. If so, i suppose dhcp-home x is automatically adressed, what if the @ lease is over???
That’s what i meant saying automatically update in my last post.
Thank you very much for your time.
Thanks PPALIAS. So if i well understood, in case of a dunamic ip adressing, i have just to add NS entries ( to indicate the name server that should be use ) and alosi a SOA entry?????
By this way, would be automatically updated and record automatically the names and adress?
Thank for your time.
Could someone please explain me the meanning of the different entries that one should add to set up a dns server with zeroshell. Those SOA, txt, ptr and overall their syntax. Expecting your replies. Thanks.February 21, 2010 at 9:50 pm in reply to: configure a dns server with beta 11 for dynamic ip adress #49745
OK, i’m going to try right away, then i will let you know the result.
Hi Snaidel, thank you for your reply about setting up a domain controller with ZS, it was one of my problem to know if it was even possible.
I would like you to help me set up a dns server with ZS for both dynamic an static ip adressing. I tried several time in vain. Expecting your response !!!!February 21, 2010 at 11:58 am in reply to: configure a dns server with beta 11 for dynamic ip adress #49743
here is a summury of what i did according to my findings on the forum.
– i left the default @ 192.168.0.75 on the interface of my zeroshell server.
-i renamed it “zerocompu”
-i set a DB like tis:
.kerberos 5 realm:xyz.org
. ldap base: dc=xyz;dc=org
(ethernet interface )
-i set up a dhcp server successfully
-i couldn’t ping the hosts with their names but only their ip@. So i decided to set up a dns server using the documentation on the forum
-i went over the dns section, created a new dns zone like this:
.domain name: xyz.org
email contest: hostmaster.zerocompu.xyz.org
i did the same for both “forwarg” and “reverse” dns zone.
-dhcp server is ok
-cannot still ping with their names but only their ip@
-nslookup command on xp client does’nt work (no dns server found or no existent domain)
1- should i first set a domain controller before setting a dns server?
2- Is it possible to create a domain so that thez xp client could joint it , almost like the windows server operating systems do?
3-what should i add to my dns server setting in such a way that it could resolve the names.
i need all kind of help!!!!!!February 21, 2010 at 11:24 am in reply to: configure a dns server with beta 11 for dynamic ip adress #49741
Thanks for replying. Trust me, I went through the forum and i found just one documentation talking about general network setting. It also talked about a dns. According to that documentation , i just checked the checkbox in the dns left pane to activate it without no futher configuration. Then it didn’t work, rthat why i came to you to find help. You could provide with some links to the forum that has to do with my problem if you think there are some documentation related to setting up a dns server with zeroshell beta 11.
Thank you alot for your reply, expecting to read from all of you.
thank you atheling for your reply. with beta11, i see in the left frame dns, and when i click on it i see soa and i can enter my domain name ( kakou-doumbia.org ) , but still, i don’t know what to enter as entries. could you please give some examples of entries. Thank u so much!!!!!!
